If you’re experiencing drop in efficiency or power issues, you may be in trouble. Could it be preignition? In natural gas or biofuel engines, this is a serious concern. You know that this can happen with a spark plug with too high of a heat rating or due to excessive build-up of carbon deposits or other combustion by products in the cylinder. It’s no secret that these carbon deposits serve as a heat barrier in your engine and become a catalyst for preignition. Perhaps your engine is overheating because it is lacking in engine coolant? We think that preignition and other common cylinder head issues should be avoided at all cost. With the modern combustion system design, this issue has been significantly minimized for diesel engines, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t occur.
