POWDERED
METAL - Our powdered metal facility
is equipped to produce low cost, specially
designed valve seat inserts.
In
combination with our machining facility, the
Powdered Metal operation will develop a process
and material to meet your unique valve seat
insert requirements.
A variety of
materials are currently produced for specific
applications. In addition to conventional
alloy and tool steels, hard phase particles
and solid lubricants can be incorporated in
the P/M process to enhance wear resistance.
Copper infiltration is also routinely performed
at L. E. Jones. The unique characteristics
of powdered metal materials gives the design
engineer additional options in valve train
design.
With
an estimated annual capacity of 6 million
valve seat inserts, L. E. Jones can meet your
high production needs. Rapid set up procedures
allow us to produce short production runs
without substantially increasing costs. Our
100 ton capacity presses can produce a valve
seat insert up to three inches in diameter.
The high temperature sintering capabilities
give L. E. Jones the ability to produce advanced
powdered metal materials not possible through
lower temperature sintering methods. The facility
also contains a high volume steam treatment
furnace.
Qualified
personnel, whom are versed in all areas of
the operation, man the production facility.
Statistical process control is utilized at
all key production operations and continuous
improvement programs are in place and functional.
Our personnel are dedicated to meeting our
customers' needs.
