We are very proud of these awards because they tell us that we're doing our job right. We meet our customer's requirements, and then work with them to develop additional ways to improve quality and reduce costs. Caterpillar Inc., for example, has certified L.E. Jones for 17 continuous years - making us one of the few elite manufacturers in the world who have attained this honor.

How do we do it? New Processes and products are thoroughly evaluated and engineered prior to production. Each existing process is fully documented and each operation is controlled with statistical tools. This allows us to provide full Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation including Control Plans, Process FMEA's and statistical data on request. We can easily support our customers' automotive and QS 9000 data needs. It is this same documentation and data that provides the basis for continuous improvement.

Here are some example sheets.Control Plans are used to write the procedures that our employees rely on. In turn, our operators look for and help develop process improvements that transform our control plans and FMEA's into living, evolving documents. The FMEA's also show us the areas where improvement is most needed. Our use of real time SPC (computer generated control charts for high-speed processes) not only helps the operators control the process and provide valuable data for the customer, it also allows us to benchmark the process for future improvements.

Documentation and data are the formula, but the credit for our success goes to the more than 200 dedicated knowledgeable people who make up the L. E. Jones Company. We strongly believe that the most valuable resource of our company is the work force. In fact, it could be the biggest competitive advantage we have.

Approximately half of our employees have at least 20 years experience. This means more than knowing the job - it means knowing the industry. Whether it's evaluating alloys for specific applications, trouble shooting engine problems, improving existing or developing new manufacturing processes, or recommending specifications, our people know the business inside and out.
